OUR HISTORY

Edinburgh: Meadowbank and WIllowbrae Church of Scotland was formed on 1 September 2023 by the union of the previous congregations of Edinburgh: Willowbrae Parish Church of Scotland and Meadowbank Church of Scotland, Edinburgh. Initially, we alternated month by month between our two church buildings for Sunday services and continued to run groups and hold events in both locations. Rev Lourens de Jager was inducted as our minister on 5 August 2024.

In late 2024, the Deployment Committee of the Presbytery of Edinburgh and West Lothian, following the recommendation of the General Trustees, decided to release our building at Willowbrae and retain the one at Meadowbank. This was a challenging decision made after careful consideration of the significant challenges facing our Presbytery and the wider Church of Scotland. This decision means that the Willowbrae building will be vacated and made ready for sale during 2025.

All our Sunday services are now held in the Meadowbank building. Some groups will continue to meet in the Willowbrae building until the end of May 2025. We are planning a special service on Sunday 8 June 2025 at 3pm to mark the end of our time in the Willowbrae church building. We hope many old friends will join us there as we remember and give thanks for all that God has done in the Willowbrae building over so many years. We'll have lots of old photos on display. If you have photos to share or you would like to get involved with planning the service, please get in touch.
